The Stella Vine paintings
I met Stella in the summer of 2001. We got married in New York three months later and split up two months after that. During that time and its immediate aftermath I did about 30 paintings and 250 drawings (some of the drawings are here). Most of the drawings were done during the relationship and most of the paintings after it. The seaside paintings are all based on a visit to Whitstable for a couple of days, where we also spent some time with Billy Childish and his wife Julie. In 2004 Stella was bought and promoted by Charles Saatchi.

The upper case text under each painting is the title and the lower case a note (and not part of the title).
