Biography
Sanchia
Lewis went to Medway College in 1978-79 and at that time knew
Billy Childish, Charles Thomson, Bill Lewis, Sexton Ming and
other future Stuckists. In 1983/4, she was a member of Group
Hangman along with Billy Childish,
Tracey Emin and Sheila
Clarke. She came to the private view of the first Stuckist
show, Stuck! Stuck! Stuck!, on 16 September 1999 at Gallery
108 in Shoreditch, and was invited to join the group. Her work
was then included in the first show, and she is seen as a founder
member of the group. She exhibited in other Stuckist shows,
including The Real Turner Prize Show in October 2000, but did
not exhibit again, due to pressure of other work, until she
participated in the Stuckism
International Gallery stall at the Affordable Art Fair in
March 2004. She has not been in subsequent shows.
